Chancha Vía Circuito

Pedro Canale has been nurturing Chancha Vía Circuito, a project that has taken him across the globe and cemented his influence in shaping Latin American electronic music since 2005. Initially rooted in digital cumbia, Canale soon expanded his explorations into electro-acoustic realms, drawing inspiration from his journeys and interactions with Indigenous traditions from the Andes and beyond. This evolution birthed the distinctive "Chancha sound," a touchstone for a new wave of artists, crafting a unique, borderless musical identity.

Andean music, with its deep ties to the mountains, native instruments like the charango and zampona, and rich storytelling tradition, carries an ancient resonance that evokes both spiritual and communal experiences. Its earthy tones and rhythmic structures intertwine with the lively, infectious beats of cumbia—a genre born from the fusion of African, Indigenous, and Spanish influences. Cumbia’s distinctive rhythms and danceable energy have become emblematic of Latin American culture, evolving through time to merge seamlessly with modern electronic interpretations.

Latin American cumbia continues to bridge eras, blending times through vibrant collaborations and shared traditions. In ‘Tenalach,’ Chancha Vía Circuito and El Búho’s second collaborative EP following 2020’s ‘Pleamar,’ the duo embarks on a deeper, groove-infused exploration. This work invites listeners into a mysterious, nature-inspired soundscape, evoking connections to the sky, earth, and water through an immersive musical journey.
